
Yvonne Anita Cournoyer
1919-2011
Putnam, CT- Yvonne Anita Cournoyer , 91, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 4 at Mid-State Medical Center, in Meriden, following a brief illness. Born on November 24, 1919 in Putnam, Connecticut, she was the only daughter of Adelard Cournoyer and mother Exepherinia (LaMothe) Cournoyer and was predeceased by one brother who died at birth. She is survived by her younger brother, Joseph A. Cournoyer and wife Jeanne Theresa (LeBeau) Cournoyer of Meriden, her adoring nephews, Joseph Cournoyer, Jr. and wife Catherine (Dubarek), of Wallingford, James Cournoyer and partner Patrick Bufford, of Durham, and her loving niece, Jeanine Cournoyer Hanlon and husband Edward Hanlon, Jr. of Meriden. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, Jennifer Hoffman, Christine Reynolds, Alyssa and Rebecca Hanlon, and Ethan and Adam Bufford-Cournoyer. She is additionally survived by four great great nieces and nephews, Abigail and Mary Frances Hoffman and Ian and Finn Reynolds.
Ms. Cournoyer graduated from Putnam Catholic Academy and was a parishioner of St. Mary Church in Putnam. She was employed for many years by Hale Manufacturing until she retired. Matante Yvonne was greatly loved and will be missed tremendously.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Yvonne’s family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam. A gathering will begin at 9:30 am on Thursday, September 8, 2011 in the Gilman Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made, in her memory, to the Sisters of the Holy Spirit at the Provincial House, 72 Church Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
