“Memory can only tell us what we were,
in the company of those we loved;
it cannot help us find what each of us, alone, must now become.
Yet no person is really alone;
those who live no more echo still within our thoughts and words,
and what they did has become woven into what we are.”

Great sadness at the loss of such a gentle, gifted guy. He showed up in woodstock at quassett cemetary when we buried my brother Kit next to my mother, Nettie Tubini Miner, years ago. I hadn’t seen him much but of course saw him often on fb, heard the music which will always be there from now on.
Anyway, missing him and thinking of you. And you can be sure I intend to show up at his grave to say farewell sometime this Spring when I come over from Upstate New York.

Dear Linda and Larry, I am so sad about your losing Willy. What a shock to get the news after being away, I ran into him at a restaurant in Putnam last summer and he said that you were playing music together and he seemed so happy. I wish I could have heard you two play. Such memories we all have of growing up in Pomfret, seems like yesterday sometimes, it was a good place to be children. I really loved your parents and think of them and the Hale Bowl often. Maybe we can get together in the summer when we’re up there, I’d like that. lot’s of love and my thoughts are with you, Inglis

Carol,
I was Willie’s roommate at Pomfret. I was horrified to learn of Willie’s death, and I wish to to convey my sincere sympathies. He was such a good guy. I remember when he got his first electric guitar – that is how long ago that was. He would lie on the upper bunk, and just play. He had a band with Eddie, Lenny, and for the life of me I cannot remember the name of the bass player. Good music. Good times.
I am so sorry for your loss, and please accept my most sincere sympathies.

Bryan Kirkpatrick
My deepest sympathy and condolences to Will’s family. He was my classmate at Pomfret (1968) and his father was one year my English teacher, and his mother Rosemary was a great supporter of chamber music and a good friend of Ben Morgan and Alice Dunbar both of whom inspired me to explore that avenue as a student. I saw Will and his band at our class’ 45th reunion last May, and had no idea he was not well.
Best wishes,
Bryan Kirkpatrick, Pomfret Class of 1968
Jay Simpkins
I am truly sorry to hear of Will’s untimely passing and wish to express my condolences to all of his family.
Will & I were 3rd Form room mates and I have always suspected that we got the best room in Upper 2 because he was PQ’s son. Also it was so helpful to me to have him there to show me the ropes as I negotiated the transition from home to Pomfret.
As Bryan said, it was fortuitous to have a chance to see Will at our 45th reunion last May.
Regards, Jay Simpkins, Pomfret ’68
Greg Melville
Carol & Michelle, Larry & Christine, Linda and members of the extended Parquette family,
My deep sympathies to you all on Will’s passing. I have to confess that I didn’t know he had been ill.
He was a fellow student in my class at Pomfret and I remember his kind way – along with his passion for music – not only from our days together on the Hill, but his attendance at many, many Alumni(ae) gatherings in the years since. Quiet fellow but always there…
(His father taught me the one course in journalism @ Pomfret that I ever took; and, he did that well enough that it served as the foundation of a long career in the field.)
I will miss them both now…
Greg Melville, Pomfret ’68
Frank Long
I had only been in touch with Will a few times since school, but he always had such a solid and stabile presence as both a roommate and a classmate. Will would get behind that guitar and so many other students just wanted to be him. He made it look so easy.
My dearest heart-felt condolences to all of Will’s family and close friends. I know he will be missed.
Peter Pease
Dear Carol –
This is very hard to hear, and all of Will’s Pomfret classmates will miss him. We shared some very interesting times together, and Willie PQ’s musicianship and easy smile were often front and center. It’s been a treat to see each other over all these years, sharing new tales and chewing on some of the old chestnuts.
Best wishes from the class of ’68. I’ll be thinking of you, and remembering Will, as I try to play a few licks he tossed off so easily. There was joy there for him, and it radiated out to us so nicely.
Best wishes,
Peter Pease
