
Woodstock – Walter Liessner, 79, of County Rd., died Friday, October 3, 2014 in Day Kimball Hospital. He is the loving husband of Martha “Janet” (Gohl) Liessner. Born in Monticello, NY, he was the son of the late Albert Walter and Theresa (Bonk) Liessner.
Mr. Liessner was a Principal Mechanical Engineer for Raytheon Company. He was a member of the Carlisle Minuteman in MA, and an active member of Most Holy Trinity Church, as he was a devout catholic. He co-founded the Carlisle Bakery in 1970.
Walter enjoyed working with his hands, doing activities like, gardening, landscaping, carpentry, home repair, was a master stone wall builder, and always carried tools in his pockets. Walter loved Christmas, and always knew how many days until the next Christmas.
In addition to his wife, Walter is survived by his sons, Christopher Liessner, PhD. and his wife Patricia of Georgetown, MA and Greg Liessner and his wife Elina of Orlando, FL; his daughters, Alinda Zawierucha and her husband Marek of Littleton, MA, Karen Lamoreaux and her husband Paul of Carlisle, MA, Dr. Patricia Kalil and her husband Dr. Andre Kalil of Omaha, NE, and Cindy Maher and her husband Dennis of Upton, MA; his grandchildren, Janusz Zawierucha, Thomas Kalil, Vanessa Kalil, and Julianna Kalil; his step-grandchildren, Sarah Nicherson, Daniel Harrison, and Christi Maher; and his sisters, Theresa Seibert of Newton, CT, Eileen McCullough of Upper Marlboro, MD, and Elsie Riley of Duncannon, PA. He is predeceased by his sister, the late, Margie Glaab.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Walter’s family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 6, 2014 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at Most Holy Trinity Church, Pomfret, CT. I think I will miss Walters twinkle in his eye when he smiled. Especially after he knew he
had gotten you in one way or another. Silent smile but wonderful. His keen sense of humor is what I will miss most and his sweet smile.
