North Grosvenordale – Viateur G. Comtois, 79, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Webster Manor.  He was the beloved husband of the late Theresa (Compagne) Comtois for 57 years.  He was born and was a life-long resident of North Grosvenordale, the son of the late Adelard Comtois and Alexcina (Ferland) Comtois.

Viateur served with the U. S. Army in World War II and was a Past Commander of the Quinnebaug VFW. He was employed by Ethan Allen of Dudley, Massachusetts, for thirty years and was a supervisor there.
He leaves two loving daughters and their spouses, Linda Nizamoff and her husband Victor of North Grosvenordale, Joann Corriveau and her husband William of Thompson, four sisters, Simone Lamoureux and Dolores Comtois of Baltic, CT, Sr. Yvette Comtois of the Holy Cross of Hudson, NH, Mary Ann Lamoureux of North Grosvenordale, two grandsons, Robert Goldsmith and Craig Corriveau. He was the father of the late Gerard Comtois and brother to the late Andrew Comtois, Lucille Fermiak, Jeanne Comtois, Theresa Bouchard and Sr. Thomas Evelyn Comtois of the Franciscan Order. A funeral with Military Honors will be held Friday at 10:00 am in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., North Grosvenordale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Joseph’s Church, 17 Main St., North Grosvenordale followed by burial in the parish cemetery.   Visiting Hours are Thursday from 5-7 pm.
