Both my husband and I have had the honor of knowing Tracy for over 20 years. My husband would pick up the pre-k students on his bus every day and Tracy would always be standing outside safely putting them on the bus! Her smile was infectious. Both Tracy and I worked as Paraprofessionals at Woodstock Elementary School and she was always walking down the hallways with a smile on her face and loved to be there! After her husband Michael died Tracy was never the same, she loved her family but her heart was broken, she missed Michael and he had left a huge void in her life. To Greg, Danielle, MiaRose and the rest of her family, I know she has left a void in your lives now but she is with “her love” and she is happy. She will always love all of you and someday you will be together again, just like she and Micheal are now. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Tracy was such a wonderful person who truly cared about the kids at WES and gave of herself to everyone who needed it. Thank you Tracy for everything you did. May your family be comforted in the hands of God during this time. You will be missed.

I cannot believe that the bundle of energy, sparkling blue eyes, and mischievous smile that made up the lovely woman I knew as Tracy Thompson has passed on. Although her diagnosis of melanoma-caused brain tumors right before Memorial Day made for a bittersweet summer, it is still a shock to realize that I’ll won’t get another Tracy hug. I won’t get another Tracy “mock” scolding. See the Tracy grin. Hear again, the famous Tracy giggle – truly a “hee, hee, hee” sound that always turned into a deep chuckle. It’s hard to describe. You had to hear it. I’ll never share a beer and laughter on the lake with one of my favorite people. A toast to you my brave girl. I’ll never not miss you. You always knew the priorities of life and demonstrated every day that it’s all about being a good mother, a good friend, being kind, being brave even when you don’t want to, and laughing until you pee. I’m having a hard time with the past-tense my friend.. thanks for the memories, say hi to Mike for me – I miss him too.. Melissa

I send my heart-felt condolences to Tracy’s family. I’m sure she was as beautiful a wife and mother (inside and out) as she was a child-hood summer friend. Praying for comfort for her family.

I had both Tracy and Michael as students way back in the 1970’s at the Hollliston Middle School. I remember them with great fondness as they both were among those who made such a memorable impression on me, that I never forgot them! My heart aches for Gloria and her husband Richard.
I came to know and admire Gloria over the years at the school for her caring and kindness as she assumed her roles at lunch time and after school. My thoughts and prayers are with the Handt and Thompson families in these sad times.
Sincerely,

I happened to stop by at WES some months ago. My children have long since been away from WES but I had stopped by to drop something off. Luckily, I happened to be in the office when Tracy walked in. Her body looked of sickness, and I immediately felt remorse for her situation. But in true Tracy fashion she hugged me and asked me how my children were doing? How the were doing in school etc. There are so few truly nobel, honorable, genuine people in the world- all who crossed paths with Tracy were truly blessed. My condolences to family and friends, she was a true lady in every sense of the word. I’m so thankful that I stopped by WES on that day- to see her smile one more time.

Dear Greg and Danielle,
Knowing both of your parents was an enormous privilege. They were people of great heart and spirit and their devotion to each other was unique and very special. I am deeply sad for both of you, and for your spouses and new baby Mia Rose. You are in my prayers. My faith tells me that Tracy and Mike are together again in God’s nearer presence. May they rest in peace and may you find some measure of peace and comfort in all they taught you about life, laughter, and love, in each other, in your wonderful extended family and dedicated friends, and in the outpouring of love, support, and esteem from the community. Blessings to you both and your familiy.

Dick, Gloria, Launa, Nancy, Greg and Danielle and new baby Mia Rose, I can’t tell you how sad I feel and can not even imaging your loss. Tracy and I spent many happy times at Vicki Lyn’s. Our group of friends was so fun to be with and we have many happy memories from those teenage summers. I remember when Tracy, Greg and Danielle lost Mike, I could not imaging getting thru that, now the whole family has to grieve another lost family member. My only comfort comes from my faith that God wanted her to join the love of her life/ husband Mike. I am sure he had special plans for them since he took them both so young. I am also pleased to hear she was able to see her granddaughter before she passed.
I would really like to be there for her service Friday but I had back surgery yesterday, and can not travel. Please accept my condolences, and prayers. Tracy you will be missed, we are lucky to have our memories to sustain us.
Love,
Michelle, Dan and Joshua

Gloria and Dick:
Oh, all the wonderful times I remember over the the years at Vicki-Lins, and even visiting at high school. From spending all the time in the boats including flipping one or two. I believe you were the happiest when Greg and Danielle were born, and you turned out to be one of the most caring, and loving person I have ever known. Next was meeting and marrying Michael, who could strike a conversation with anyone and had the best jokes.
So many laughs and secrets that I think Gloria only knows. The many words of wisdom from Grandma Helen while playing solitaire in the rain. Unfortunately, we did loose touch over the years. I did get my updates from Nancy on a regular basis.
You were a beautiful, wonderful person who did so many sweet and fantastic things for everyone, and was taken too soon. You will truly be missed.

I first met Traacy when she cam to Dayton to visit Mike – she was just 15 years old. We have stayed in touch over the years – sometimes more often than others – and she and Mike have always had a special place in my life and in my heart. Tracy was my friend – there was never any doubt abotu that and she always made me feel welcome. I will treasure her memory and am honored to have known her. My deepest sympathy to the Handt and Thompson family. While Tracy and I spent every summer at Vicki LIn for many many years, as children and as mothers, we kept to our own. But with so many years there were times where I would bump into Tracy or our children played together or someone would tell me a story that included Tracy and I know that Tracy and I had one thing in common and that was holding our family near and dear to our heart. And I am sure that losing Tracy is incredibly difficult. I am so sorry for your loss. God bless.

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw Tracy’s obituary in the paper. I hadn’t seen her in awhile, and I didn’t know she was sick. She will definitely be missed. I used to work with her in the pre-k room at the Elem School when I was a sub there. I later worked with her at the Children’s Center. She was such a wonderful person, always had a smile for me and was pleasant to be around. I’m glad I knew her. You have to be a good person to work with kids. Best regards
