CHANGE IN DATES AND TIMES
1955 – 2022
Thompson – Timothy G. Durand, age 66, of Thompson, passed away January 18th, 2022, with his children by his side.
Tim, or “Timmy” to most, was born June 30th, 1955, in Putnam, CT, to Thomas and Rachel Durand. Growing up in Putnam, Tim spent his younger years tormenting siblings and using his natural craftsman abilities to create a future. After accomplishing his dream of becoming a truck driver, most of his life was spent driving countless hours across the country, but that didn’t prevent him from being a family man. When not on the road, Tim could be found at home enjoying a cigar and cold beer on his deck, conversing with those who stopped by, or spending time with his grandchildren. Tim had a variety of hobbies from traveling to New England car shows in his ‘69 Mach 1 Mustang, to reading from his vast collection of books, woodworking, and watching football.
Tim is survived by sisters, Cheryl Pepek & husband Donald, Debbie Durand, brother, Michael Durand & wife Dorcas, children, Scott Durand and Robin Averill, and grandchildren, Joslin & Jacob Durand, and Hayden Averill, along with many extended family members and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Rachel Durand, and twin brother, Thomas. Tim lived a fulfilling life as a father, brother, and friend to many, but took most pride in being a grandfather.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with Timothy’s family on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. in the Valade Funeral Home & Crematory, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT 06255. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life is being planned for the Spring. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking those who wish to donate to a memorial fund for his grandchildren c/o Scott Durand, P.O. Box 108, Thompson, CT 06277.
