Despelteau, Teresa web picPutnam – Teresa L. “Tessie” (Lagrandeur) Despelteau, 79, of  Church St., beloved wife of Normand Despelteau for 54 years, died peacefully on September 19, 2006 at Bayberry Commons, Pascoag, RI after a lengthy illness.  Born in Putnam, She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Alpaide (Leclair) Lagrandeur.

She was a graduate of St. Mary School, attended two years at the Catholic Academy in Putnam and graduated from Putnam High School in 1945. She also attended Dudley Hall Career Institute and Quinebaug Valley Community College.  She was employed at the American Optical in both Southbridge and Putnam.  She was a past secretary of the Northeastern Personnel Association while employed at Hale Manufacturing Company as an Assistant Personnel Administrator.  She later worked at the Desaulnier Insurance Agency and was a manager of the Bugbee Block in Putnam. She was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation.  She was a past volunteer of Hospice of Northeastern Connecticut and past member of the Advisory Committee.  She was also a member of the Alumni Council of Putnam High School.

She leaves her husband, Normand, two daughters, Ann Despelteau of Tampa, FL and Norma Bouchard and her husband Bob of Venetia, Pa, and one son, James Despelteau and his wife Lynn of Exeter, NH. She also leaves four grandchildren, Matthew and Jason Bouchard and Nicole and Emily Despelteau and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Bob Lagrandeur and her sister, Anita Lagrandeur Morin.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Teresa’s family Friday, September 22, 2006 from 9:00 to 10:00am in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Burial in St Mary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, those who prefer may make donations to St. Mary Church, 218 Providence St., Putnam, CT  06260.
