Terence O. Dennison
1935 – 2011

Hampton, CT – Terence O. Dennison, 75, of Main St., beloved husband of Marijo Dennison, died Wednesday August 10, 2011 at Day Kimball Hospital from complications following hip surgery. Born in Washington D.C., he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Mary C. (Bennett) Dennison.

Terry was a respected member of the Aviation community serving in senior management positions for over 40 years. He had been a Pilot, Senior Vice President of Operations and Marketing and President of several Airlines and Aviation companies. He had been recognized in England and France and by the Regional Airline Association for his contributions to the industry he loved. Prior to his aviation career, he was proud to have been an Eagle Scout; he served in the U.S. Coast Guard where he spent a year at the South Pole. He started and ran his own successful photo journalism business, TOD Productions. Some of his early videography work is still being used today for crash fire rescue training at the NTSB. Terry was highly regarded by the FAA and the DOT. He was called on by Congress to appear as an expert witness at various US Agency proceedings. He worked for several years in Northern Ireland for Short Brothers and Harland. He was a very gifted and genial man. He was a world traveler who loved his adopted town of Hampton, CT. He was optimistic, kind and generous and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

He and his wife Marijo had 33 happy loving years together. He is also survived by three daughters, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren from a previous marriage.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Terry’s family from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday August 15, 2011 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday August 16, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Hampton Congregational Church on 263 Main St., Hampton, CT. Burial will be private. I’ve known Terry since I was a least 16 years old. His oldest daughter and I went to high school together for a short time. I remember once he took me and my sister Tina to San Francisco. Terry was always a gentleman and a great host. He was always polite, friendly, caring and never said a mean word about anybody. He was a great supprt to me and my family when my father died. I never heard him complain. He had a great personality and sense of humor, I am sorry for his children and grandchildren – it is a terrible loss . My children loved Terry too. He was always very kind and patient with them. He even dressed up like Santa Claus and gave them presents the first christmas after their grandpa died. It ended up being a wonderful holiday and Terry went out of his way to make us feel better. He took the video of my wedding 25 years ago . Terry was easy to talk to and I wish I’d gotten to know more about his earlier years . I know Terry loved my sister very much. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for her. They had a special relationship that most people only dream about. He treated her with respect and kindness. I remember when they were first dating and he gave her the cutest kitten. That was the first of many cats that Terry graciously put up with. I will miss Terry. It’s hard to believe he’s gone. So many people depended on him and enjoyed his company. He will never be forgotten. I hope he has been reunited with his brother, mother and father. God love you Terry. Annie

Terry and I have crossed paths during our career in aviation. I cannot express how much it has meant to me that 10 months ago I was given the opportunity to stop at one of those crossings, and continue on, walking the same path with Terry. Terry has not only been a friend and co worker, but was a mentor to me here at three wing. It was an honor to work for him and learn from him. I will always carry Terry’s love and knowledge of the Aviation Industry with me as I continue down my path without him, he will be sorely missed.

Marijo, so sorry to hear of Terry’s passing. I saw him not too long ago at Three Wing. We had a few good laughs and I was glad to see him. I will always remember him with fondness and the time we spent together at US Helicopter.

Dearest Patty, Jessica, Christopher, Timothy and Jonathan,
Your Daddy and I know how sad it is to lose your Grandpa so suddenly, just when he was getting better. I know that you will miss him forever. He is in no more pain now, and with God. I like to believe that those we love and lose, are still with us in spirit, though their bodies are no more living.
His memory will always be with you. Love, Grandma Mary
I wish I could be there, will see you in September. Love again

    Dear Marijo,

I am so sorry for your loss. Terry was always a kind, thoughtful, patient man, Always a good word, strong handshake, and a smile. My heart goes out to you and yours, and I am so very saddened by Terry’s passing. It’s just awful. Nobody tried harder than Terry to be well. He was a nice man, and the world is diminished by his leaving it. I hope he is at peace, and pain-free.
