Brooklyn – Stuart E. Cathell, 79, beloved husband of Paula (Baron) Cathell passed away March 9, 2023. He was born April 2, 1943 a son of the late Kenneth B. and Catherine (Yost) Cathell.

Stu was a United States Coast Guard veteran. He retired as a Trooper First Class from the Connecticut State Police after 26 years of service. He enjoyed playing, coaching and umpiring baseball. Stu had a passion for bowling and achieved a perfect game. He enjoyed golf and had several holes in one. He was a longtime member of the Quinnatisset Country Club.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons and daughters in law David and Jennifer Cathell;John and Johanna Cathell; a daughter Kristin Cathell; a step son and daughter in law Gregory and Jamie Trahan; a stepdaughter and son in law Lisa and Adam Haury; six grandchildren Payton, Ian, Ryan, Evan, Ariana and Tucker. He was predeceased by his brother Ralph Cathell.

Memorial visitation will be Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 2-4PM at Dougherty Brothers Funeral Home & Crematory 595 Norwich Rd. Plainfield with Military Honors at 3:30 and a prayer service to follow. Flowers are respectfully omitted and memorial contributions may be made to CT. State Police Museum and Education Center P.O. Box 1945, Meriden, CT. 06450. www.doughertybrosfuneral.com
