Putnam – Sister Miriam – Anele Pazerunaite, was born on January 26, 1929 in Pruseliu village, in Sakiai region, Lithuania, the youngest of nine children. During the Soviet invasion of Lithuania in 1944, she fled her native country and finished high school in Germany. Sr. Miriam immigrated to the United States in 1949 and settled in Chicago. In July of 1958 she entered the Lithuanian Sisters of Immaculate Conception, in Putnam. After making her profession in 1960, she finished nursing studies in St. Vincent’s Hospital, Worcester, MA. 1965 and worked at Villa Maria, Thompson CT rest home 1965-1968. Sister continued her religious life on the nursing staff of Matulaitis Nursing Home until her retirement. She resided with her community and for the last two years was a resident of Matulaitis Nursing Home. She died at Day Kimball Hospital November 3rd. Friends are invited to the Wake Monday at 4:00 or 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, 600 Liberty Hwy, Putnam, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held (today) Tuesday, November 5th at 10:00 at the Immaculate Conception Chapel, followed by burial in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
