Sister Marguerite Bourque, 86, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit died on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Holy Spirit Health Care Center, Putnam, CT where she had been a resident since 1995.
Sr. Marguerite was born on January 29, 1922 in Old Town, ME, daughter of the late Adelard and Mary (Arsenault) Bourque. She entered religious life in 1939 and made her religious profession on July 1, 1943 at the Holy Spirit Provincial House, Putnam, CT. She was then known as Sr. Marie Adelard.
From 1943 to 1991 Sr. Marguerite performed various domestic services in the following locations: St. Elizabeth Guest House, Hartford, CT; St. Joseph Guest House, New Haven, CT; Annhurst College, Woodstock, CT; St. Joseph Villa, Putnam, CT and the Provincial House, Putnam, CT.
Survivors include a brother, Joseph, of Charlestown, SC and several nieces and nephews, as well as grandnieces and grandnephews.
Calling hours at the Holy Spirit Provincial House Chapel will be on Wednesday, November 5, 2008 from 5 to 8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:15 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 1:00pm in the Provincial House Chapel. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Putnam, CT.
