Sr. Jeanne Robillard, DHS, 91, a member of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit died on Saturday,

February 23, 2008 at Holy Spirit Health Care Center where she had been in residence since 1998.

The daughter of the late Michel and Marie-Anne (Levesque) Robillard, Sr. Jeanne was born in Tupper Lake, NY on April 27, 1916.  In 1935, she entered religious life and made her religious profession on August 21, 1938 at the Motherhouse in St. Brieuc, France.  She was then known as Sr. Charles Cécile.

Sr. Jeanne served both as a teacher and nurse.  Her first teaching assignment was in Olney, England in 1938.  Upon her return to the United States in 1946, she was assigned to Holy Ghost Academy, Tupper Lake, NY and St. Anne School, Hartford, CT.  After teaching for several years she obtained a nursing certificate from Holy Ghost Hospital in Cambridge, MA..  In 1955, she became a visiting nurse in Pawtucket, RI.  In 1961 she served as a nurse on the staff of Holy Ghost Convalescent Home, Uncasville, CT.  Other nursing assignments were at St. Clare Home, Newport, RI, St. Joseph Villa and Holy Spirit Health Care Center, both in Putnam, CT.  Sr. Jeanne also served several years as a Chaplain at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, CT.

Survivors include one brother, Leo Robillard and one sister, Pauline Robillard, both of Tupper Lake, NY and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Calling hours at the Provincial House chapel will be on Tuesday, February 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:15 PM.  A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, February 27 at 11 AM at the Provincial House chapel followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery, Putnam, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Daughters of the Holy Spirit Retirement Fund, 72 Church St., Putnam, CT 06260.  Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT is in charge of arrangements.
