N. Grosvenordale – Simone (LaPalme) Gauthier, 92 formerly of Quinebaug Rd. died Monday February 18, 2008. She was the wife of the late Leo Gauthier who died in 1983. Born in Farham, P. Q. Canada, she was the daughter of the late Henri and Anna (Malloy) LaPalme. She moved to Connecticut in 1923.
Mrs. Gauthier worked as a stitcher for the former Putnam Manufacturing Co. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne for over 60 years. She was a member of the North Grosvenordale Senior Citizens Club, the Women’s Auxiliary of VFW post #10088, and the ILGWU Local 164. She was an avid stitcher and enjoyed sewing her own clothes, drapes, and gifts for others.
She is survived by three sons, Leo A. Gauthier of South Windsor, Ct, Edward J. Gauthier of Cromwell, Ct, and Daniel H. Gauthier of New Durham, NH; two daughters, Suzanne Welch of Loudon, NH and Mary-Claire Renaud of N. Grosvenordale; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Paul O. Gauthier.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Simone’s family from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Thursday February 21, 2008 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A gathering will begin at 10:00 am on Friday February 22, 2008, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Burial will take place on a later date.
