North Grosvenordale, CT – Romeo “Junior” Beausoleil, 84, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine M. Beausoleil for 65 years. Born in Griswold, Romeo was the son of the late Romeo J. and Laura (Jodoin) Beausoleil.
Romeo was a United States Navy Veteran serving during the Korean War. He retired as an expediter from Kaman Aerospace and previously worked for Bentley Shoe and Pratt and Whitney. Romeo was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Bernard’s Council, the American Legion, and a devoted communicant of St. Joseph’s Church. He was an avid golfer, playing as often as possible. Romeo loved spending time with family spanning three generations. He enjoyed coaching his sons in Little League. Romeo was a creative woodworker and handyman. He served on the Thompson Water Pollution Control Authority and served two terms as a member of the Thompson Board of Selectmen.
Romeo is survived by his five children, Kenneth Beausoleil and his wife Gail of Quinebaug, Gary Beausoleil and his wife Amanda of East Putnam, Gail Beausoleil of Putnam, Karen Munroe and her husband Edward of Woodstock, and John Beausoleil and his wife Melissa of Kennesaw, GA; his brother, Robert Beausoleil and his wife Anita of Leesburg, FL; nine grandchildren, Kenneth Beausoleil, Kristopher Beausoleil, Nicholas Lawrence, Emma Beausoleil, Renee Hill, Heather Vallis, Galen Munroe, Michael Beausoleil, and Shauna Christensen; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two grandchildren, the late Eric Beausoleil and Michele Beausoleil; and by his siblings Doris Casey, Richard Beausoleil, and Carol Inch.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Romeo’s family on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., North Grosvenordale, CT with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale.
