Robert G. Willett
1928 – 2012
Woodstock – Robert G. Willett, 83, of Route 169, died Sunday May 6, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Claire (LeBoeuf) Willett. They were married September 3, 1951. Born in Quinebaug, he was the son of the late George and Jane (Rivers) Willett.

Mr. Willett graduated from Tourtellotte Memorial High School in 1945 and attended the University of Connecticut for 1 ½ years before joining the army in August of 1946. He went to basic training in Fort Bragg, NC and then served with the Hohkaido Military Government Team. He graduated from the New England School of Accounting and attended Clark University.

Mr. Willett owned and operated the Ballouville Store and was a postmaster from 1951-1984 when he retired. He lived in Las Vegas, NV from 1987-1995, and then moved to Woodstock in 1995.

He is survived by two sons, Robert M. Willett of Woodstock, and David M. Willett of Hopkinton; his sister Elizabeth (Willett) LeClair of Quinebaug; and three grandchildren Chris, Eric, and Nicole Willett of Hopkinton.

At Robert’s request, his funeral services are private. In lieu of a wake, the family will be hosting a “Celebration of Life” for any family and friends who would like to acknowledge his life and share fond memories. The celebration will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, May 21st at the Vanilla Bean Restaurant, 450 Deerfield Rd, Pomfret, CT. and will include hors d’oevres and drinks. Memorial donations can be made to the Cardio Pulmonary Research Division in care of Massachusetts General Hospital Development Office, 165 Cambridge St. Suite 600 Boston, MA, 02114.
