1938 – 2021
Pomfret Center – Robert “Bob” Thomas, 82, of Pomfret, passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2021. He was the loving husband of Mary L. Thomas (please pray for Mary as she battles COVID). Born in Putnam, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Montcalm and Blanche (Caron) Thomas.
Mr. Thomas was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Robert was the head of the mathematics department at Killingly High School for many years, and taught advanced math classes, fondly known to students as “Mr. Trig”. After his retirement from the high school, he continued to teach math for several years at Quinebaug Valley Community College. Bob enjoyed playing cards and doing jigsaw puzzles with his wife Mary. He was a member of Quinnatisset County Club and was an avid golfer. He was a fun-loving man, quick to tell a joke, who loved life and those around him.
Robert is survived by son, Charles Thomas, daughter-in-law Lisa Kandell and grandsons Brock and Kai Thomas of Palm City, Florida; and, by daughter, Laurie, son-in-law Jeff and grandson Joseph Audette of Sterling, CT. He is also survived by his former spouse, Glenda Lambot, 2 brothers-in-law, their wives and many nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Robert is predeceased by brother and sister-in-law Dr. Tom and Mrs. Norma Thomas of Richland, Washington.
A graveside memorial for Robert will be held in Abington Cemetery, 592 Mashamoquet Rd, Pomfret Center, CT 06259, on Friday, October 22, 2021 at 12:30 pm.
