Dayville – Robert E. Tanner, Jr., 86, of North Rd. passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 24, 2018 at Pine Grove Healthcare in Pascoag, RI. Born in Providence, RI, Robert was the son of the late Robert and Bessie Veronica (McKnight) Tanner, Sr.
Mr. Tanner was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. After his military service, he worked as a sheet metal worker and was employed by the Frank Beatie Sheet Metal Company, Universal Sheet Metal Company, and the Superior Sheet Metal Company. He also spent time working for the railroad.
Robert was a member of the Putnam VFW Post #1523, and the Providence VFW. He also enjoyed fishing. But, above all he cherished the quality time that he spent outdoors walking his dogs down by the lake.
Robert is survived by his two daughters, Joanne Kirby and Carol McLaughlin and her husband James all of Warwick, RI; his companion, Beverly Fedorowicz of Dayville; four beautiful grandchildren, George Kirby, Trisha Mannarino, Ryan McLaughlin, and Justin DeChristofaro; two great grandchildren, Dina Pappas and Olivia Mannarino, and his trustworthy dog, Bella. He was predeceased by two sons, Wayne Tanner and Robert Tanner, III; his daughter, Diane Tanner; his sister, Betty Tanner; and his dogs Bonnie and Clyde.
