1943-2023

Dudley, MA – Robert E Allard,79, of 34 Prospect Ave. passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023, in UMASS Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Mary Elizabeth (Rodgers) Allard. He was born in Norwich, CT. He was the son of Caryl and Rose (Lavoie) Allard. On June 13, 1964, in Norwich he was united in marriage to the former Mary Elizabeth Rodgers.

Mr. Allard worked at the WW Backus Hospital after high school and also for the Norwichtown Convalescent Home. He then went to work for Thames Valley Community Action Program as a Site Manager and a cook in Montville until he moved to Massachusetts. He worked for Tri-Valley Elder Services in Dudley Ma.as a Nutritional Site Manager in Northbridge and Southbridge until he retired at 65. He was a member of the Norwich Grange for many years and won many awards in competitions for his baking.

He enjoyed selling Avon products and used all his commissions on his wife, children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren and friends in making beautiful baskets filled with those products and other things of sentimental value. These were used for Christmas and all of us will miss the love that was shown through this act of kindness. He loved nature, word search puzzles, collecting coins, collecting recipes, and baking beautiful wedding cakes for family and friends.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his seven children, Dawn Marie Spraski and her husband Ronald, David Edward Allard, Adam Scott Allard and his fiancé, Crystal Littlefield, Amanda Marie Allard and her fiancé, Erik, Vanessa Teeter and her fiancé, John, Quinton Joseph Allard, and Aaron Edward Allard; his siblings, Roland, Paul, Miriam, and Beverly, 30 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren.

A funeral service is being planned for the future. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Valade Funeral Home and Crematory, 23 Main St, North Grosvenordale, CT. For memorial guestbook visit www.GilmanAndValade.com

Aunt Mary and family, I am so sorry to hear of Uncle Bob’s passing. I enjoyed talking to him over the years. The wedding cake he made for us 29 years ago was beautiful! My deepest sympathies to you all.
