Wilsonville – Richard Thomas Denihan, 76, of Wilsonville Road, died Monday, March 17, 2008 in Southbridge MA. Born in Newark NJ, he was the son of the late Thomas and Viola (Mann) Denihan.
Mr. Denihan served in the United States Navy during both the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He received the Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Award. He later became owner and operator of D&G Commercial Refrigeration.
Mr. Denihan was a member of the American Legion Post #91 in Moosup and served as the District Commander for Northeast Connecticut.
Richard is survived by his sons, Allan Denihan and his wife Jeanne, and David Denihan and his wife Mary Lou, all of Plainfield; his daughter, Donna South and her companion Rodney of Danielson; his sister, Maureen Spillman of E. Hartford; his companion of many years, Louise Hamm of Wilsonville; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Richard D. Denihan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Richard’s Graveside Service with Military Honors at 1:00 pm, on Monday, March 31, 2008, in St. John Cemetery, Norwich Road, Plainfield CT. Gilman Funeral Home has been entrusted with his arrangements.
