Richard “Dick” L. Turcotte
Putnam – Richard L. Turcotte, 93, of Church St., passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. He was the loving husband of Jeannette Turcotte for 69 years. He was lucky enough to marry the “girl next door.” Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Albert and Mable (Danielson) Turcotte.
Richard was a United States Navy Veteran who served during World War II. After serving his country, he worked as a sales manager for Mathieu Ford, Cormier Larrow Plymouth and he also worked as a machinist for Burmer Tool and Die and Gobeille Tool. Richard enjoyed golf and woodworking.
Richard is the oldest living past commander of the American Legion Post #13, a lifetime member of the Putnam Elks, VFW Post #1523 and a past President of the Putnam Lion and Putnam Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his sister, Ruth Stevenson and her husband Todd; his nephews and nieces, Jeffery Brassard and his wife Laurie, Peter McLearn and his wife Gwenn, Douglas Turcotte and his wife Susan, Debra Hodge and husband Jim, Laurie Lesniak and her husband Brette, Donna McLearn, Mary Alexander and her husband Charlie, James Brassard and his wife Nancy, Robert Brassard, Aaron Brassard and his wife Sarah, Jared Brassard, William Brassard and his companion Andrea, Marc Brassard, and Holly Brassard; his grandnephew, Brandon; his great nieces Brittany and Chelsea and many other grandnieces & nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Albert Turcotte, Howard Turcotte and Beatrice McLearn.
Dick’s family would like to thank the staff at Matulaitis Nursing Home for their exceptional care of Dick while he was a resident there.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial for Dick at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam, CT. Burial will follow with military honors in St. Mary Cemetery, 230 Providence St., Putnam, CT 06260. Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with his arrangements.
