
Richard A. Briere, Sr.
1942 – 2011
Putnam – Richard A. Briere, Sr., 69, of Church St., died Wednesday, October 5, 2011 peacefully in his home. He was the loving husband of Carol (Brissette) Briere for 45 years. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Blanche (LePointe) Briere.
Mr. Briere worked as a machine operator for 33 years in several area manufacturers. He also worked as the head of maintenance for the Kings Inn. He was a member of the Forester’s of America. He enjoyed fishing, but loved working in his garden. He took great pride in growing a 70 pound pumpkin and even won 1st prize at the Woodstock Fair for having grown the largest zucchini.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by his sons, Richard A. Briere, Jr. of Thompson, and Joseph A. Briere of Putnam; and his grandson, Timothy “TJ” Briere.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Richard’s family from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Friday October 5, 2011 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam, CT 06260. A gathering will begin at 8:30am on Saturday, October 8, 2011 with a 9:00 am Funeral Service in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. For guestbook visit www.GilmanAndValade.com
