1966 – 2021
N. Grosvenordale – Raymond Phelps, 54, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. Ray was an amazing man; he was the man that you would want your son to be. Everybody who met Dad loved him. He was the king of being Dad, jokes and all. He loved the Beatles, he loved making sure the grass had perfectly straight lines when he mowed, he loved stopping to smell the flowers and appreciate all of the beautiful things in life. Growing up he was always THAT DAD, the one that all your friends would love to meet and would have so much fun with us all. The community dad, if you will. When he made the vows for better or for worse, he took those with full dedication. He cooked his amazing three course meals every night and would never leave my mom’s side. Ray always found the strength to dress up every morning and shave looking his best. “If you look good you feel good.” That was his motto. The strongest man, and I had the honor of that being my father. His life lessons and funny memories will forever live on in the lives of so many. So, raise your drink a little higher, and sing the songs a little louder next time, just as he always would. Ray is survived by all who knew and loved him. Services are private and have been entrusted to the Gilman Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Church St, Putnam, CT. For memorial guestbook, please visit www.GilmanandValade.com.
