1943 – 2021
N. Grosvenordale – Raymond H. Brouillette, 77, passed September 6, 2021. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth (LaPorte) Brouillette. They were married for nearly 35 years. Born in Woonsocket, RI, he was the son of the late Raymond & Loretta (Calvey) Brouillette.
Ray retired in 2008 from his lengthy career as a supervisor for several local manufacturing & display companies. He also worked full-time for Walmart in Putnam for more than 2 decades until his health declined last year. Ray had many regulars who visited him in the sporting goods department he spent so much time in. He enjoyed the socializing almost as much as simply staying active.
His true passion began when he was only 3 years old, and he picked up his first set of drumsticks. Ray played for more than 60 years. As a member of the Mercymount Country Day School band as well as a member of the renowned marching band at Mount St. Charles Academy, his talents excelled enough to award him scholarships to both local prestigious private schools. Ray continued in the music industry with several bands over the years. He played at many festivals, he was a regular at many clubs, and one of the bands he played for, Country Heritage, was the house band at Ballard’s on Block Island in the summer of 1990. From classic rock to country, he played it all.
Besides his rekindled love Marcy, Ray is survived by his four daughters, Danielle (Dave) St. Laurent of – North Pole, AK, Nicole Brouillette of Narragansett, RI, Renée (Karl) Freudenberger of Windham, ME, Michelle (Chris) Richard of Cape Coral, FL, and his sister Adele (Dave) Faria of Beulaville, NC. He is also survived by Ruth’s children, who he considered his own, Charles Trudeau, Denise Harkins, Mike Trudeau, and Kathy Bowen, all of Thompson, CT. His combined family blessed him with 19 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Hannah (Nicole). Ray was predeceased by his sisters Michele Bedard & Patricia Guay and his brother Michael Brouillette.
