Raymond C. Williams
1912 – 2009

Woodstock – Raymond C. Williams, 96, of New Sweden Rd, died Saturday June 27, 2009 in Matulaitis Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of Eleanor (Evans) Williams. Born in Woodstock, he was the son of the late Clarence Williams and Gertrude (Creapo) Williams.

Mr. Williams worked as a truck driver for several area construction companies. He was a member of the Putnam Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, gardening, playing cards and taking day trips. Every morning he would meet his friends for coffee at the Village Restaurant in Woodstock.

In addition to his wife, Raymond is survived by a daughter, Shirley Rapose of Woodstock; two grandchildren, Tracey Brown of Woodstock, and Steven Rapose of Woodstock; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Justin and Joshua; a brother-in-law, Richard Evans and a sister-in-law, Gerry Evans.

Relatives and friends are invited to Raymond’s Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00pm Wednesday July 1, 2009 in Most Holy Trinity, 568 Pomfret Rd, Pomfret. Burial will follow in Quassett Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Suite 105, 306 Industrial Park Rd, Middletown, CT 06457 or to the Woodstock Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 222, S. Woodstock, CT 06267. Gilman Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements.
