
1941 – 2011
Putnam – Rachel (Lafontaine) Power, 70, of Woodstock Ave., died Monday August 22, 2011 in Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of Joseph R. Power and the late Richard Rodio. Born in Thompson, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Anna (Martel) LaFontaine.
Mrs. Power worked as a certified nurse’s assistant for Matulaitis Nursing home and Community Health and Homecare. She retired in 1989 due to illness. She enjoyed her grandchildren and would say, “They were just what the doctor ordered!”
In addition to her husband, Rachel is survived by her daughter, Brenda Pontbriand and her husband David of Woodstock; her son, John Rodio of Woodstock; her sister, Ann Gendron of Danielson; her grandchildren, Rachel Pontbriand, Sophia Pontbriand, Autumn Rodio, Ke Mathew Sherman, Dustin Rodio, Richard Rodio, Delaney Power and Gracie Power; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her Himalayan Persian, Brutus, who stayed close to her and gave her comfort.
She was predeceased by her brother, Rene LaFontaine, her sister, Jane Caplette
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Rachel’s family from 4:00 to 7:00pm, on Wednesday August 24, 2011 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A gathering will begin at 9:00 am on Thursday August 25, 2011, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. i love and miss you memere!! I will never forget you. Ever!! Rest in Peace. I miss your warm hugs and kisses, i miss your unbelievable passion for your family. And most of all, I just miss you! I cant wait to see you again! and i cried so hard when my mom told me you had passed away. Just know you are in a better place with the people whom you love and cherish your time with.
