Woodstock – Patrick W. Olski of Stone Hill Road, formerly of Syracuse, NY died peacefully after a short illness – surrounded by family on November 20, 2021, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam, CT. He was the loving husband of Celine (Boutet) Olski, and the son of the late Joseph and Mary Olski. He was born in Oswego, NY, and graduated from East Syracuse High School after his Junior year.
Patrick served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the first-year occupation troops in Japan in 1945 following the end of World War II. He was stationed in Sapporo, Hokkaido with the 302 Combat Engineers, and the 127 Airborne Combat Engineers.
After serving in the Army, he received a B.S. in Physics at Le Moyne College in Syracuse New York and was a member of the college’s first graduating class in 1951. He was a tool engineer at Easy Washing Machine Company, then worked 31 years with General Electric at the forefront of the semiconductor and microelectronics industry. He designed and developed several transistors that were used in the Minuteman Missile System, and on Apollo Moon Missions.
Patrick enjoyed bowling, boating, golfing, and stamp collecting. He published a book of his recollections and letters home about his experiences while serving occupation duty. He spent much of his adult life in Liverpool, NY before moving to Woodstock, Ct.
Patrick is survived by his wife of 70 years, Celine, and four children, Katherine Fratini (Roger) of Napes, FL, Danielle Giamundo (Steven) of Woodstock, CT, Patrick E. Olski of Natick, MA, and Michele Scheffer (Daniel) of Houston, TX; his 8 grandchildren, Chantal, Dustin, Evan, Nathan, Nichole, Brendan, Christopher, and David; and 5 great grandchildren, Jacob, Logan, Dason, Derek, and Ellianna. He was predeceased by his sisters, Diana Prockup and Jacqueline Marris.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, November 29, 2021, in St. Matthew’s Church, 229 Yates St. East Syracuse NY at 1:00 PM. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 4100 E. Genesee St., Dewitt, NY.
Following the burial friends and family are invited to attend a reception at Delmonico’s Italian Steakhouse, 2950 Erie Blvd E, Syracuse NY.
