Danielson – Omer “Pete” Racette, 89, formerly of Putnam, died Monday, June 16, 2008 in Haven Health Center after a long illness. He was the loving husband of Lena H. (Plante) Racette for 69 years. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Peter J. and Mary F. (Fuller) Racette.
Mr. Racette worked as a shipping supervisor for John Dean Company and Wellington Curtain. He had also worked for the Colt Company in Hartford. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He loved to work in his yard and to care for his cars.
Omer is survived by two daughters, Yvonne M. Vigeant and her husband Raymond of Danielson, and Barbara A. Morin and her husband Edmond of Danielson; a sister, Beatrice Fisher of Willimantic; five grandchildren, Michael Vigeant of Houston, TX, Suzanne Lewis and her husband Scott of Massapequa, NY, Donna Sweet and her husband Steve of Danielson, Karen Bradley and her husband Scott of Stafford Springs, Ct, Craig Morin and his wife Nancy of Lino Lakes, MN; and eight great grandchildren Danielle & Emily Sweet, Daniel & Sarah Lewis, Kyle & Cory Bradley, Andrew Morin and Cameron Swanson. He was the brother of the late Donald Racette.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Omer’s family from 9:00 to 10:30 am Thursday June 19, 2008 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Burial with Military Honors in St. Mary Cemetery.
