North Grosvenordale – Normand G. Danis, 76, of School Street died peacefully Saturday May 12, 2007 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves his beloved wife of 56 years, Alice G. (Duquette) Danis. Born in Southbridge, MA, he was the son of the late Emile and Marguerite (LaRoche) Danis.
Mr. Danis worked as a Toolmaker for A & M Tool & Die for 41 years retiring in 1996. He was a 1948 graduate of the Cole Trade School in Southbridge. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 67. He was a “Jack of All Trades”; he loved to tinker and could fix anything. He enjoyed traveling to Maine, Golfing, horseback riding, and watching the Redsox and wrestling. Normand found true pleasure helping others and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Kevin J. Danis and his wife Linda of Dayville; two daughters, Karen C. Clough and her husband John of Woodstock and Kim C. Trudeau and her husband Arnold of Pomfret; a brother, Bob Danis of Pascagoula, MS; a sister, Muriel Danis of Putnam; and six grandchildren, Tiffany, Tyler, Jacob, Samuel, Jason and Luke. He was the brother of the late Lucille Letendre.
At Normand’s request, visiting hours are respectfully omitted and funeral will be private. Donations may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, 20 Main St. N. Grosvenordale, Ct or Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, PO Box 632, Putnam, Ct 06260. The Valade Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements.
