Mechanicsville, Ct – Nellie A. (Leo) Gagne, 89, formerly of Riverside Dr., died Monday, September 17, 2007 in Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. She was the loving wife of the late Theodore Gagne. Born in Mechanicsville, she was the daughter of the late Camille and Rose (Albano) Leo.
Mrs. Gagne was co-owner of Gagne’s Pharmacy in Putnam from 1956 to 1984. She was an active volunteer at both Sacred Heart and St. Joseph Churches and served as the counter of collections at Sacred Heart Church. Mrs. Gagne served as a vice president of the West Thompson Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Mrs. Gagne was a member of the Thompson Senior Citizens Center, the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary and a Red Cross Volunteer. She enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid Yankees fan.
Nellie is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Theodore and Cynthia Gagne of Quinebaug; her daughter, Judith Eddy of Bristol; six grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Katrina Eddy, Daren and Krista Eddy, Devin Eddy, Wayne Garcia Sr, David Keefe, and Alexandra Keefe; and 1 great-grandson, Wayne Garcia Jr.. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Louis Leo, Joseph Leo, Virginia Domoleski, and Ann Riendeau.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Nellie’s family from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, September 19, 2007 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam Ct. A gathering will begin in the funeral home at 9:00 am Thursday, September 20, 2007 with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 47 West Thompson Rd, West Thompson, Ct. Burial to follow in West Thompson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Special Olympics Connecticut, 2666 State St., Suite 1, Hamden, CT 06517-2232.
