Michael W. Fontaine
1957 – 2011

Rogers – Michael Wayne Fontaine, 54, of Boys Avenue died Friday September 9, 2011 unexpectedly in his home. He was the loving husband and best friend of Linda A. (Hardy) Fontaine for 38 years. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Ernest and Helen (Fifield) Fontaine.
Mr. Fontaine worked in the quality control department for the paper mill in Sprague for 32 years. He served as the financial secretary for the United Steel Workers Union, Local 1840. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Michael is survived by his son, Dale R. Fontaine and his wife Amy, of Plainville, CT; his three daughters, Beth Frink and her husband Daniel, of Sterling, Jennifer Bates and her husband Tyke, of Rogers and Megan Fontaine of Rogers; his three brothers, Ernest Fontaine of Thompson, Bruce Fontaine of Putnam, and Brian Fontaine of Thompson; his six sisters Cynthia Bergeron of Simsbury, CT, Kathleen Fontaine of Dayville, Debra Neundorf of Thompson, Lisa Pratt of Thompson, Lori Herrick of Danielson, and Billie Jo Fontaine of Lowville, NY; his four beloved grandchildren, Anika Frink, Abigail Bates, Molly Bates, and Michael Fontaine and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Eugene P. Fontaine who died on December 12, 2004.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Michael’s family from 3:00 to 5:00pm, on Tuesday September 13, 2011 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. with a Funeral Service held at 5:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be private in St. Mary Cemetery.

    Dale i was bartending at the old times at the time i got the call to get to the hospital,dad was already gone when i got there. we were’nt very openly expressive but we loved each other. the way i have lived my life and everthing i’ve taught my kids comes from him.i miss him to this day i wish he could experience our family but i know he is the big influence on our lives now, i owe it to him and his example and it will continue because of him.It hurts and it’s a bit confusing right now but that’s life.carry on and take care my brother . mr mush.

    Mike left a mark on anyone who knew him. He didn’t waste his time judging people he just excepted people for who they were.
    we are a very tight family who talk to each other always and get together for no reason other then to see each other we get together for holidays every Christmas Eve all of us are together
    There is a void in my life where my brothers once were . With the hope in my Lord Jesus Christ I have the promise of seeing them again. Lay your burdens on Christ and you will find comfort and peace .
