Woodstock, CT– Michael R. Thompson, 49, died peacefully Wednesday, April 25, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Tracy E. (Handt) Thompson for 27  years.  Born in Florence, Alabama, he was the son of Merilyn A. (Gallagher) Thompson of Millis, MA and the late Richard B. Thompson.  He lived in New Milford, Ct until moving to Woodstock in 1994.

Michael was a co-owner and operator of Pacon Corporation in North Grosvenordale. He was a graduate of the Holliston High School where he was the captain of the wrestling team and a graduate of the University of Dayton.  He enjoyed watching football, hiking, fishing and boating.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by a son, Gregory R. Thompson of Woodstock; a daughter, Danielle E.H. Thompson of Woodstock; a brother, Andrew P. Thompson and his wife Joy of Woodstock; a sister, Anne P. Thompson and her husband Robert Gianopoulos of Medway, MA; father and mother in-laws, Richard and Gloria Handt; two sister-in-laws, Lonna Marinaro and Nancy Caron and her husband Ray; eight nieces and nephews, Conrad, Derek, Gordon, Anthony, Nicole, Matthew, Robert, and Laura and Michael’s father’s partner, Peggy Enquist.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with Michael’s family on Sunday, April 29, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, Ct. His Funeral Service will be held Monday, April 30, 2007 at 10:00 am in the East Woodstock Congregational Church, 206 Woodstock Rd. E. Woodstock.  Burial will be in East Woodstock Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Day Kimball Hospital Oncology Department, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260
