Michael J. Mastalerz
1957-2009

Woodstock- Michael J. Mastalerz, 52 of Little Pond Rd. died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Leanne (Mancini) Mastalerz for nine years. Born in Springfield, MA, he was the son of the late Edwin and Barbara (Sarafino) Mastalerz.

After serving in the Air Force, Michael worked as a correctional officer for the Connecticut Department of Corrections, most recently at Carl Robinson Correctional Institution in Enfield. He retired in 2002. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid football and New York Giants fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Michael Mastalerz and his fiancé Stephanie MacDonald of Franklin, and Andrew Mancini of Woodstock; two daughters, Tina Mastalerz of Lebanon, and Amanda Mancini of Woodstock; and a sister Paula Nichols of Sarasota, FL. He was the brother of the late Gerald Mastalerz.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Michael’s family from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday December 9, 2009 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. His Funeral Service will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:00 am in High Pointe Church, 1208 Thompson Rd, Thompson, Ct. Burial in Quasset Cemetery, Woodstock. Memorial donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 705 North Mountain Rd., Suite G102, Newington, CT 06111 or to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd. Suite 105, Middletown, CT 06457.
