1967 – 2009

Woodstock, CT- Michael C. Naum, 41, of Joy Road died Friday June 26, 2009 with his family by his side after a long and courageous journey with cancer. He was the loving husband of Genevive (Kwok) Naum. Born in Putnam, CT, he was the son of James and Anna (Noiseux) Naum of North Grosvenordale.

Mr. Naum was a 1991 graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he earned his degree in Electrical Engineering. He was also a 2008 graduate of the American Military University where he earned his master’s degree in Strategic Intelligence. In February 2008, as a student at AMU, he was selected to speak at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. on his course work. During his brilliant career in the engineering field, Mr. Naum worked for such companies as Sun Microsystems where he held several patents. In 2002, he founded Silicon Dimensions Inc. serving as its CEO and CTO. In 2006, he joined Advanced Micro Devices. Outside of his academic and professional careers, Mr. Naum had many interests. He was an avid mountain bike rider, runner, fisherman and marksman. Mr. Naum was an EMT for Community Fire Department, an auxiliary Connecticut State Trooper and a member of Pomfret Rod & Gun Club.

In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters, Heather Naum and Emily Naum both at home; his brother; his paternal grandmother, Blaga Naum of North Grosvenordale.

Relatives and friends are invited to Michael’s Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday July 1, 2009 at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, CT. Burial will be private. Donations may be made to the Michael C. Naum Memorial Engineering Scholorship Fund, C/O Citizens National Bank, P.O. Box 6002, Putnam, CT 06260. Valade Funeral Home is entrusted with his arrangements.

    Oh my god. Michael Naum was a wonderful person. I will never forget him or his wife Genevive. They gave me my first jobe with their company Silicon Dimensions, Inc., when I relocated to Boston, MA. Genevive you will for ever be in my prayers as well as your family. Please stay strong.
