Gucwa, Mary  - web picPutnam – Mary (Pasay) Gucwa, of Auburn Street, died Friday, December 8, 2006. She was the wife of the late John C. Gucwa.  Born in Thompson, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Wilgus) Pasay.

Mrs. Gucwa worked as a nurse’s aide for 17 years at Westview Nursing Home, and previously had worked as a drawer for 16 years at Cluett Peabody and as a sticher for 14 years at Bates Shoe, both in North Grosvenordale.

Mary was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation, and was a member of the St. Mary League of Catholic Women. In addition, she was a past president of the V.F.W., Albert J. Breault Post #1523 Women’s Auxillary, was a member of the American Legion Mayotte-Viens Post #13, was a past president of the Military Order of Cooties Auxillary.  She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club in Putnam and Brooklyn, and of the A.A.R.P.

She is survived by a brother, Stanley Pasay of East Killingly, several nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Felix Pasay, Edward Pasay, Joseph Pasay, Alexander Pasay, Louis Pasay, and Walter Pasay; and by her sisters, Helen Niemec and Sophie Faucher.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family Tuesday, December 12, 2006 from 5:00 to 8:00pm in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam. A gathering will begin at 9:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home  with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam.  Burial in St Mary Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Church, 218 Providence St., Putnam, CT  06260
