Marian E. (Dooling) LaLiberte
1917 – 2009
Grove City, OH- Marian E. (Dooling) LaLiberte, formerly of Woodstock, CT, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in Grove City, OH, while surrounded by family and friends. She was a lovely 92 years of age, having been born to the late William and Catherine (Carty) Dooling on Jan 31, 1917. Marian was happily married to her soul mate Albert LaLiberte until his death in 1994.We smile to think of the loving embrace that awaited her as they were reunited.
Marian had many interests in addition to making a lovely home for her family. She served, as a reader in the Most Holy Trinity Church for over 30 years, was a member of St. Monica’s Guild ILOF, and served as a volunteer for the Woodstock Volunteer Ambulance Corp. In earlier years, she and her sister, Anna May, sang on their own WATR Waterbury Radio as the “Dooling Sisters”. She continued her claim to fame by winning so many prizes on the show “Concentration” that Albert went to St. Patrick’s Cathedral to pray she would lose so he could afford to pay the taxes on all the loot! At the urging of her son Ken, she entered the “Miss Keenage” pageant where she came in second–this at the age of 75. In addition, throughout her life, Marian enjoyed composing poetry and loved singing and performing.
After moving to Ohio to be with her daughter Joan, she spent many years delighting in her time spent with her wonderful 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. The last word she spoke was to her littlest angel Jaden–it was “Wow” as Jaden was making a great deal of noise! Thank you, dear family, for loving “GiGi” so much and for bringing such joy to her life. Her son Kenneth LaLiberte, his wife Linda; her daughter Joan (LaLiberte) Snyder, and husband Stephen will also miss her dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marian’s family from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Friday, October 30, 2009 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam, CT. A gathering will begin at 8:00 am Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 in the funeral home with A Mass of Christian burial to follow at 9:00 a.m. in Most Holy Trinity Church, 568 Pomfret Road, Pomfret, CT 06259. Burial will follow in Elmvale Cemetery in Woodstock.

A reflection:
Of course, we are saddened by the loss of our beloved Mother, but we trust that she is truly never gone. She is with us in each remembered embrace, in the strength and values she imparted, and in the certainty that we were and still are loved. How we will miss you, sweet Miss Marian!
