Tomany, Marguerite - Web Obit PicN. Grosvenordale – Marguerite “Muggy” (Libera) Tomany, 61, of North Grosvenordale passed away unexpectedly on September 6, 2014.  She was the beloved and much adored wife of Michael Tomany for 41 years. Muggy was born and raised in Glastonbury CT, the loving daughter of Yvette (Cote) Libera of Sangerville, ME and the late Henry Libera “Mrs. Tomany” enriched the lives of many children as a Kindegarten teacher at Mary R. Muggy lived her life to the fullest.  Mike and Muggy loved travelling throughout the USA and Ireland.  They loved skiing, hiking, horse carriage driving and motorcycling.  She was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the President of the Southern New England Carriage Driving Association. Most of all, she enjoyed and loved her family. She was the proud, loving mother of Aaron and his wife, Carrie, of Fremont, NH and James and his wife, Chaula, of North Grovesnordale.  Muggy adored and found great joy in being the best Grammie to Joshua, Ben, Hanna and Sophia.  She was the much loved sister to John Libera, Albert Libera and Linda Libera Anderson, as well as a loving aunt and sister in law. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Muggy’s family from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, September 10, 2014 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. We didn’t call her Muggy here at The Fitness Studio.., She was just Marguerite. One of the nicest ladies I have ever meet. I will miss here her talk about her travels, horses and grand kids.

Such a huge loss for her family, so very sorry.

Mike and Family, I am so very sad over the loss of, may I say, our Muggy. First of all, Mike is one of my favorite people, always fun, up beat, always a humerous outlook on life, and Muggy was his perfect mate. I so admired her spirit, always willing to take on a challenge, never a quitter, always fun but balanced, concerned for others, a wonderful person. This is such a loss, but things being as they are, I know all of us cherish knowing her and all she left us with, and to once again someday see her on the other side. My deepest condolences to you all.

Mike, I’ve been home past 6 weeks on medical leave and just got the sad news from Brian Murphy in Chem Ops. What a tragic act of nature and loss to you and your dear family. While I’m sure her physical presence will be missed, memories of her love will hopefully help you all through this difficult time.

Our dearest Muggy, we hold you very close in our hearts. Our lives have been enriched by your gentle, fun presence and we simply cannot let you go. You are here when we paint with the children, you are here when we wander around Carlingford Castle, you are here when we jump the stepping stones in Tollymore Forest park and you are here when we have eaten too much chilli cheddar cheese and our mouths have gone numb!! We are privileged to have known you and treasure the good times…you are all around.

We are so saddened by the loss of Mrs. Tomany. She was such a dynamic teacher! She helped children and their parents transition into the MRFES system. She taught in a way that made children love to learn. Abby remembers Mrs. Tomany taking nature walks during the school day with the children during different times of the year. “She helped us see and appreciate beauty in nature and taught us so much without us even knowing…” She had a great laugh and all my conversations over the years with her always included something fun about her family. She truly loved all of you so much! Know she has touched thousands of lives and our lives are better for having known her!

Muggy was always cheerful and young at heart. Muggy was more excited, more than any of my family members about hearing that Rose and I were getting married in 1985. This left a big impression on us. We are glad that we got to see her in 2012 enjoying her trip to Maine.

    Mike,

I am so sorry for your loss. The few times I met Muggy, whether at Burke Mountain, the races or at other events not recallable currently, I was impressed with her obvious warm, upbeat, inclusive personality, and the zest for life’s adventures which you and she shared in so many different ways. May the memories of this beautiful person be forever cherished by you and your family.

Mike – shocked to see the news. I misread the notice in the Courant, and Tam and I went up to Valade’s this afternoon, and am truly sorry for the screwup. I wanted to express my condolences in person, not by e-mail.
If there is anything you can think of I may be able to help you with, just ask. As you know, I am retired now, so have more time.

    Mr. Tomany, Aaron, James,

I learned of Mrs. Tomany’s passing through Mrs. Vercelli. I had been home recently, first time in about five years because of deployments. I had spent some time driving around and taking in all the changes in CT. I passed the house and was tempted to stop and say hi. But so much time has passed, I thought it would be odd. Now, I ‘m sorry I didnt stop to see if you were home.
I pray your hearts will find peace in time and the memories will one day heal your broken hearts.

Rest in peace Marguerite. I never knew you but saw your name in the book The Beatles Lyrics, edited by Hunter Davies. It seems Paul McCartney used the back of an envelope you sent to John Lennon in 1966 to write down the lyrics to his song “Good Day Sunshine.”
