Lorraine J. Gardner

Woodstock- Lorraine Jean Gardner, 68, died peacefully at her home on December 7, 2007 after a long hard fight with cancer.  She leaves behind her beloved husband of 48 years, Roland Gardner.  Born in North Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Jeanne (Blanchette) Rowe.

Mrs. Gardner worked as a selector for Staples in Killingly for 13 years.  She had also worked for Bates Shoe and American Optical.

She enjoyed crocheting, going to the casino and watching football; especially her New York Giants.  Family was her life.  Spending time with them meant the world to her.  Anyone who knew her could not help but love her.  She loved to watch local baseball and football – from WPTP kids games to senior slow pitch games at Tarr Field – In doing so befriended all players and other spectators as well.

Besides her husband, Lorraine leaves her three loving sons and their families: Kenny, Kathy, & Kyle; Mickey, Nicole, Eric, Ryan, Joshua and Madison; and Bobby & Sheila. She also leaves her closest friends; Evelyn and Beansy Chenail and their families as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lorraine’s family from 9:00 to 10:00 am, on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation, Providence Street, Putnam.  Burial will follow in St. Mary‘s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.
