
1929 – 2022
N. Grosvenordale – Lorraine (Duquette) LaBonte, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 28, 2022 in Day Kimball Hospital. Born in Worcester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Arsene “Sam” and Lovina (Laflamme) Duquette. She was the fifth of seven children born in this order: Normand, Maurice, Jean “Johnny”, Beatrice, Lorraine, Alice, and Evelyn, all of whom predeceased her. The family moved to Thompson in the 1930s.
Lorraine was married at St. Joseph Church in 1947 to the late Roland LaBonte. They had been married 43 years when he passed in 1990. She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Stephen Church for more than 40 years. She belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary 1088 of the VFW for many years.
Lorraine enjoyed shopping with her sisters and nieces, and also enjoyed working in her flower gardens, but above all, she cherished the time she spent with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lorraine is survived by her two sons, Lawrence LaBonte and his wife, Sandra of Thompson and James LaBonte and his wife, Susan of Woodstock; her five grandsons, Jeffrey LaBonte, Jared LaBonte, Justin LaBonte, John Tetreault, and Andrew LaBonte; her two granddaughters, Jennifer LaBonte O’Connor, and Rebecca LaBonte Walford; and her thirteen great-grandchildren, Paige O’Connor, Winter O’Connor, Lauthell LaBonte, Aliceya LaBonte, Michaela Walford, Iayah Burke, Othelia Walford, Honorable Walford, Azalei LaBonte, Abigail LaBonte, Jonah LaBonte, Charlotte LaBonte, Chelsea Tetreault, Cody Tetreault, and Nathan Tetreault. She is also survived by many nephews, nieces and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Lorraine’s family on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., North Grosvenordale, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St Stephen Church, 130 Old Turnpike Rd., Quinebaug, CT at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Grosvenordale.
