1953 – 2015
Linda M. (Roy) Simmons, 62, of Senexet Rd., Putnam passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday evening, August 24, 2015, at home with her family by her side. She was the beloved companion of James Genest for 15 years, and a loving mother, grandmother and sister.
Linda was born in Putnam, CT on May 31, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Albert & Mary (Nobrega) Roy. A graduate of Killingly High School and Youville School of Nursing, Linda worked as an LPN at Matulaitis Nursing Home and previously at Village Manor.
In addition to her companion Jim, she is survived by her daughters, Kelly Gazzola (Chris), Erin Simmons (Matthew Thornton) all of Putnam, and her sister, Brenda Fournier (Don) of Plainfield. Linda also leaves behind her three grand-daughters Chloe & Mae Gazzola and Avery Thornton. She also leaves her niece Kathryn Fournier; her dear friend Mai-Lis Day of New York who helped care for her during her illness; several extended family and friends; and her beloved dog, Ralphie.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Linda’s family on Friday, August 28, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00pm in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam. A gathering will begin on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 9:00am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church of the Visitation at 10:00am. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, N. Grosvenordale.
