1926 – 2021
Putnam – Lillian (Messier) Bisson, 94, passed away at Matulaitis Nursing Home where she had resided since October 2020. Born in Wauregan, CT, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Malvina (Pope) Messier. She resided in Wauregan until her marriage to Alphonse Bisson on May 30, 1947.
Lillian and Alphonse owned and operated a bed and breakfast in Pomfret for many years, and later moved to Danielson. Lillian graduated from Plainfield High School in 1945 and went to work as a secretary in the Wauregan Mills Complex, later working at Arrowheart in Danielson where she retired.
Lilian is survived by her niece Elaine (Michael) Bernier of Putnam with whom she had a very special bond. She is also survived by nephews James (MaryAnn) Messier of Gulf Breeze, FL; Richard Messier of Carolina, RI; and David Desilets of Gresham, OR.
She was predeceased by brothers Armand, Emile, Rene; and sisters Beatrice Messier and Lauretta Desilets.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 11:00 am for a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Church, 12 Franklin St., Danielson, CT. Burial will be private.
