Leona (LaVigne) Cotnoir
1928 – 2009

Putnam – Leona J. Cotnoir, 80, of Van Den Noort Street, died Monday, September 7, 2009, in Day Kimball Hospital. She was the loving wife of Gerard Cotnoir for 58 years. They were married in St. Mary Church of the Visitation on January 31, 1951. Born in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Juliette (Benoit) LaVigne.

Mrs. Cotnoir worked as a Pharmacist for Pevners Pharmacy, Allard Pharmacy, and retired from CVS Pharmacy. She was a 1950 graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy. She was one of the first female pharmacists in North East Connecticut. She was a member of the UCONN Alumni Association and was a communicant of Saint Mary Church of the Visitation. She enjoyed knitting and was an avid Red Sox fan.

Besides her husband, Leona is survived by her sons, Gerard Cotnoir of Putnam, Marc Cotnoir of Woodstock, and Ernest Cotnoir of Putnam; her daughter, Michelle Cotnoir of Concord, NH; her grandchildren, Joshua Roos, Gerard Samson, Carly Cotnoir, Emma Cotnoir, and Nicole Cotnoir; her great-grandchildren, Zachary Roos and Haley Fish.

Relatives and friends are invited to Leona’s Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 11:00 am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St., Putnam. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Day Kimball Hospital, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260. Gilman Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements.
