Archambault, A Leon web photoA. Leon Archambault, 64, of Anderson Road, died Tuesday, July 4, 2006 at home. He was the husband of Denise (Beauchamp) Archambault for 40 years.

Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bernadette (Coderre) Archambault.

Mr. Archambault graduated in 1963 from Fairfield University, with a bachelor’s degree in English.  He also attended Assumption Prep., and spent six years in the CT National Guard.

He was the past president of Archambault Insurance Associates of Putnam and Danielson CT. He was a member and past president (1978-1979) of the Putnam Rotary, and was a Paul Harris Fellow.  In addition, he was a former chairman of the Putnam Water Pollution Control Authority, a former member of the Putnam Board of Finance and Economic Development Commission, Corporator of Day Kimball Hospital, Corporator and Director of Putnam Savings Bank, member and past director of Independent Insurance Agents of Connecticut, fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, member of the Northeast Concert Choir, teacher for Literacy Volunteers of America,  past president of Northeast CT Board of Independent Insurance Agents, and was named by CT Governors to Quinebaug & Shetucket Rivers National Heritage Corridor Advisory Council and to the CT Automobile Assigned Risk Board.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Marc L. Archambault and his wife Mary of Pomfret, Thomas M. Archambault and his wife Amy of Eastford; a daughter, Margo Little and her husband Russ of Rexburg, ID; his brothers, Rev. Richard L. Archambault of Putnam, Charles Archambault of North Grosvenordale, Monsignor Henry Archambault, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Taftville, and Dr. Paul Archambault of Lewisburg, PA.; his sister, Denise Hutchinson of North Grosvenordale, and ten grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Archambault in 1968, and by two brothers, Maurice Archambault and Dr. Bernard Archambault, and by his sister, Jeanne Brodeur.

A funeral will be held Saturday, July 8, 2006 at 9:00am in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., North Grosvenordale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Joseph’s Church. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Visiting hours are Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Northeast Connecticut, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260 or Project Northeast, attn: Fr.
