Putnam – Leo C. Adams, 84 of Killingly Ave, died Sunday September 11, 2011 in Day Kimball Hospital. He was the loving husband of Rose M. (Lamiotte) Adams for 58 years. Born in Killingly, he was the son of the late Henry and Alice Adams.
Mr. Adams worked in highway maintenance for the towns of Woodstock, Pomfret, and Putnam. He had also worked for the Putnam Water Department, Cluett Peabody, Hale Manufacturing, Joe’s Sanitary Service, Plainfield Greyhound Park, Senexet Landscape, Pomfret Livery Community Cab and as a handyman. He was a WWII Army Veteran and was a member of VFW, DAV, and the American Legion. He played the electric guitar in a country band and was a member of the Pomfret Fire Department. He was an avid auto-racing fan and enjoyed watching his sons compete. He enjoyed doing anything outdoors including fishing, gardening and riding his motorcycle. He was a hard worker and loved his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Leo is survived by six sons, Leo J. Adams and his wife Claylene, of Putnam, John E. Adams of Putnam, David R. Adams and his wife Karen, of Nanjemoy, MD, Richard P. Adams of Putnam, Bruce P. Adams of Putnam, and Francis A. Adams and his companion Pamela Benoir Walker, of Putnam; a daughter, Christine M. Adams of Danielson, many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Joseph R. Adams and Donna M. Robichaud.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service with Military Honors on Friday September 16, 2011 at 10:00am in St. Mary Cemetery, Providence St. Putnam.
