North Grosvenordale—Joseph A. LaRoche, 91, of Buckley Hill Road died Monday, July 23, 2007 in Danielson. He was the loving husband of Florence (Morin) LaRoche for 68 years. Born in North Grosvenordale, he was the son of the late Napolean and Alphonsine (Hebert) LaRoche Fournier.
Mr. LaRoche was a doffer for Cluett & Peabody, as well as a machine mechanic for several other area manufacturing plants. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He was a member of the St. Bernard Council 2087 Knights of Columbus in North Grosvenordale and a communicant of St. Joseph Church.
Joseph, a talented woodworker, inventor and “Jack-of-all Trades” was happiest working in his “Dust Bowl”. He was well known for making step stools which he made and gave away over 500 to those who asked for or wanted them.
In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by his son, Donat J. LaRoche and his wife Lynda of N. Grosvenordale; four grandchildren, Dawn Hunton & her husband Brian, Joseph LaRoche & his friend Kathy, Bryan LaRoche and Lisa Mendes; four great grandchildren Rebecca Hunton, Justin Walas, James LaRoche and Cole Mendes; and a great great granddaughter, Makayla Hopkins. He was the brother of the late Donat LaRoche, Napolean LaRoche and Jeannette Fournier.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joseph’s family at 9:00 am Thursday, July 26, 2007 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church. Burial with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery.
