1924 – 2012

Putnam – Joseph L. Bertorelli, 87, of Pomfret St., died Wednesday, November 28, 2012 in the Matulaitis Nursing Home. He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Foley) Bertorelli. Born in Danielson, CT, he was the son of the late Louis Sr. and Mary (Longo) Bertorelli.

Mr. Bertorelli was a 1947 graduate of LaSalette Seminary and attended the University of Connecticut and Mitchell College. He was a veteran of the Korean War era and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1952. He worked as manager of the employment office for the State of Connecticut Department of Labor and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joseph is survived by his son, Mark Bertorelli and his wife Allison of Farmington, CT; his daughter, Ellen Redding and her husband Preston of Montpelier, VA; his brother Philip Bertorelli of Danielson; his sister, Patricia Belade of Danielson; his sisters-in-law, Bernadette Bertorelli of Danielson and Catherine Foley of Montpelier, VA and his grandchildren, Catherine Redding, and Myles Redding, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joseph’s family at 10:00am on Monday December 3, 2012 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St, Putnam, CT. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Donations may be made in his memory to Missionaries of LaSalette, 915 Maple Avenue, Hartford, CT 06114-2330.
