
Putnam – Joseph J. Jankot, 85, of Sabin Street, died October 23, 2006, at Matulaitis Nursing Home, Putnam. He was the husband of Anna (Przybylek) Jankot. Born in Putnam, he was the son of the late Adelbert & Louise (Jekot) Jankot.
Joseph was a World War II, Army Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the Putnam Elks, an accomplished golfer who was a member of Quinatissett Country Club into his late 70s, and was a life long avid Polka Dancer. He was a retired instructor at the H.H. Ellis Technical Trade School where he taught the tool & die machine trade. He was fondly remembered by many of the students he helped launch into productive adulthood.
His sons thank him for their interest in golfing, fishing and gardening. His grand children, Amee, Josh, Julia and Tanya remember him for his gentleness.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Alan Jankot of South Glastonbury and Jeffrey Jankot of Ipswich, MA; a brother, Adam Jankot of Putnam and four grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Julia Fagan and two brothers, Walter Jankot and John Jankot.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Joseph’s family on Friday, October 27, 2006, from 4:00-7:00 pm. in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church Street, Putnam.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 am Saturday in Saint Mary’s Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence Street, Putnam. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Mary’s Church or St. Mary’s School, 218 Providence Street, Putnam, CT 06260.
