Jewett City – Joseph D. LaRoche, 47, of Norman Road, died Friday, January 7, 2011 after a long illness in the William W. Backus Hospital. He was the loving companion of Kathy DeMauro for the past 17 years. Born in Putnam, he was the son of Donat and Lynda (Putnam) LaRoche.
Mr. LaRoche worked as a machinist for Kaman Aerospace. He was a volunteer driver for the Martin House in Norwich and enjoyed music, especially guitars.
In addition to his companion and his parents, Joseph is survived by his brother, Bryan LaRoche of FL, his sisters, Dawn Hunton of Danielson, and Lisa Mendes of Cheshire, CT; and his paternal Grandmother, Florence LaRoche of Danielson.

Joe Was with my Mother for 17 years And he was also The ONLY Father I have ever known, He was not Biological Father But he was my Father in all of the ways that really matter.. Dear LaRoche family, I first met Joe back in 1984 at my grandfather’s home in Jewett City as he was living there after being discharged from Norwich Hospital. We hit it off immediately and grew to bond like brothers. We talked about everything under the sun, mostly our desire to have our families accept us in spite of our mental health issues.
