
John W. Salkiewicz
1960 – 2011
North Grosvenordale –John W. Salkiewicz, 50, of Brickyard Road, died Saturday October 1, 2011 at home after a long illness. Born in Putnam, CT, he was the son of Edward Salkiewicz of North Grosvenordale and the late Irene (Popowicz) Salkiewicz who died in February.
Mr. Salkiewicz was a graduate of Central New England College and worked as a computer programmer for Digital Computer Corporation. He was a volunteer fire fighter and EMT for the West Thompson Fire Department where he taught CPR classes.
He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed gardening and skiing.
In addition to his father, John is survived by his brothers, Edward P. Salkiewicz and his wife Lynn of North Grosvenordale and Joseph P. Salkiewicz and his wife Dawna of North Grosvenordale; his sister, Katherine A. Kimball and her husband David of St. Albans, ME; his nephews, Nicholas E. Salkiewicz, Ethan E. Salkiewicz, Douglas Kimball and his nieces Audrey Kimball, Alaina R. Salkiewicz, Rhianna Curotto and Lindsey O’Connor.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with John’s family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday October 4, 2011 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT. A gathering will begin at 9:00 am on Wednesday October 5, 2011, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Sorry to hear about John, he was a fun person and had a great sense of humor. I remember times at the firehouse and the time he invited me to go skiing. This was a long time ago, years have passed but I still have some fond memories….my condolences to the family!

I met John working first aid at the Woodstock Fair. He was a credit to his family and community. They are in my prayers to ease their loss. John needs no prayers! He was a good man.
