
Putnam—Jeanne L. Briere, 83 of Ella Grasso Garden Apartments, 65 Ballou St. died February 19, 2006 at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home after a 3 month stay. She was the wife of the late Omer R. Briere whom she married in St. Mary’s Church of the Visitation in April of 1946.
Born in Newmarket, NH she was the daughter of the late Ademard and Exilda Emond. She lived in Putnam and Thompson most of her life.
Mrs. Briere worked for the former Belding Hemminway and American Optical Co. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Albert J. Breault VFW Post 1523 and the Senior Chorus. She was an avid card player and enjoyed the game of Pitch.
She is survived by 2 sons, Omer R. Briere and his girlfriend Lucy of Plainfield and Richard Briere and his wife Marie of Brooklyn; a daughter Lucille M. Gauthier of Webster, MA; 2 brothers, Alfred Emond of Uxbridge, MA and Norman R. Emond of Dayville; 3 grandchildren, Michael Briere, Katelin Briere, and Rachel Gauthier and 2 great grand daughters, Isadora and Kiara. She was the sister of the late Emiliana “Millie” Hickey, Ludgar, Edward, Philip, Wilfred and Albert Emond.
A Funeral will be held 10am Thursday from the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam with am Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St Mary’s Church of the Visitation, 218 Providence St. Burial will be in West Thompson Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held from 4 -7 pm Wednesday.
