Jeanne D’Arc Desautels
1912 – 2011

Grosvenordale – Jeanne D’Arc Desautels, 98, previously of Riverside Drive, died Tuesday April 12, 2011 in Westview Healthcare Center where she resided for six years. Born in Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Angeline (Lariviere) Desautels.

Miss Desautels worked as a housekeeper for Day Kimball Hospital for eleven years. She had also worked for Grosvenordale Textile Mill in the spinning department. She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Church in North Grosvenordale and was a volunteer at their thrift shop. She just loved going to casino’s, especially Foxwoods. She was a member of the “Royal Travelers,” and traveled with her nephew, sister, and cousins to Atlantic City, N.J. and New York. Jeanne will be missed by many, but her smile will be missed most of all. She was just a great person.

Jeanne is survived by her sister in-law Marie Claire Desautels; several nephews; nieces; and cousins. She left many friends, especially two dear friends Charlotte Ravenelle, and Bernice Choquette whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Alferi, John, and Gerard Desautels; her sisters, Orianna Ferland, Anita Desautels, and Florida Grenier; and her nephew Bernard Ferland.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jeanne’s family at 9:30 am on Friday April 15, 2011 in the Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale CT followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Joseph Church, 18 Main St., N. Grosvenordale. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
